Life in the fast lane.

HI everyone, time for an update :).
Since the last post some of our issues have resolved :). Our bank account is now fully accessible with checks here and everything. It's still stinking hot, but there have been a few days of relief.
We've gotten out a bit since then too. We picked peaches and blueberries and visited a lake about an hour from here. There are still a bunch of things I want to check out before Jason starts so I'm glad to be feeling a bit more mobile.
We still haven't decided on a specific house church, but we've had some chances to meet more of the people. Sunday they had their once a month all house church gathering called the celebration. It was great to get to see more people. They had a seperate kids class and Charlie was thrilled to have the chance to play with some kids. The church has a good size Burundi population (African refugees) so we worshipped in their language and ours and the sermon was translated. A lot of the kids were Burundi too. It was exciting to get to be part of an international worship service and see the kids playing with African kids. We love being part of a body that is very serious about serving the poor and lost here in the US, and  have a passion for missions.
That afternoon I was invited to a double baby shower for sisters having babies. There were a ton of women there! It was great to really get to meet and chat with lots of the ladies. It was also really nice to get out of the house for something social :). I'm looking forward to getting together with some of the ladies who have kids and more get togethers like this one. Once again there were a few Burundi families there. It was great to hear them sing and pray in their language for these new lives. Once Jason starts and I have some idea what his schedule will be I hope to find a way to get involved in the ministry side of things.
A new problem has popped up too. Jason took his car in to get the exhaust problem fixed. Turns out that's going to cost more than the car is worth. So now we are car shopping. We're hoping we can find something cheap enough to just buy and then save this year for something better. We were hoping to get a kitchen table, right now we're eating on a card table. Looks like that's going to have to wait for now.
The house in MI has had some interest from renters, but no takers so far because we're in grand rapids school district. Hopefully something happens there soon.
So some prayer requests: Buying a car, that our house rents, wisdom and opportunity to get involved in ministry within the inner-city, opportunities to meet and build relationships with our neighbors, direction on potentially buying in a more inner city neighborhood.
Here are some recent pictures.
