The trip went pretty smoothly from there. The flight attendant asked the man next to us to move so we could have a seat for N, that was SO nice. N went right to sleep. C took a little longer, but both boys slept until we picked them up in Paris. We arrived in Paris at 5:30 am and headed out of the airport. We had an 8 hour layover so we hopped on a train and saw the Eiffel Tower!! It was so fun! It was great to get to see Paris even for just a short time. We got back in the airport with about 3 hours to spare. The kids played in a little play area with a bunch of other kids who all spoke English!
Then as we sat waiting for the plane we met another family travelling with a baby. The father was actually starting his internal medicine residency in Ohio. They were Muslims (the wife was wearing a head covering) and were very intersted in what we had been doing in Africa. They said they were interested in doing that type of work someday. On the plane Jason sat next to another Muslim lady who was travelling to visit her daughter. It reminded me of all the opportunites God gives us everyday to share the Gospel.
The kids slept the first 3 hours, then we had 5 hours to go. They did pretty well, but we were all thrilled to finally land on US soil! We were met at the airport by our friend Paula and Mr Green (who took us to the airport). They took us back to the Greens for a delicious dinner and C got to play with his friend L. We drove home and opened our door to welcome home signs and a house stocked with food! Thank you so much to all our friends!
We have met so many people along this journey and have had so many opportunities to share what God has been doing, it has been humbling. The month in Africa was an amazing experience, but the journey began long before and I am convinced we will see it's effects for the rest of our lives. We have been so thankful for all of you. Thank you for walking alongside us, for praying, for reading our blog, and for your encouraging words. We have had such a sense that this month was not just our month, it was God's and therefore it was yours too. We have felt every prayer and have loved hearing how God is using our journey to impact yours. We continue to be in awe that He has chosen such broken vessels to do His work. We don't know what the next step in God's path for us will look like, but God has confirmed that missions is where He wants our family. Please continue to pray for us as Jason finishes his residency and we continue to pray for God's guidance for our future. It's hard to believe the month is over, but it's good to be home! :)
Thank God your home safely!! We'll be anxious to hear more stories. Love, Linda
